Other Questions:

Can I participate in Sunday Giving Commitment if I am not a member?

Yes, of course you can! Old St. Pat’s encourage all of our associates, friends, and visitors to act as hosts of this experience, to the extent that is comfortable for them. If you are an associate or friend of Old St. Pat’s and would like to participate, please fill out a Member Planning Card. Please feel free to contact Katie Loberg at 312.831.9354 or kloberg@oldstpats.org.

If you would like to become a member, we can help with that, too!  Please contact Bridget Evers at 312.831.9368 or bridgete@oldstpats.org.

How much should I give?

Old St. Patrick’s membership reflects a variety of different lifestyles. An easy way to calculate an appropriate gift for weekly contributions to Old St. Pat’s is through the “One Hour Rule.” This calculation suggests that an appropriate weekly contribution equals one hour of pay. If you are able to give more than this amount, thank you for your additional support. If you are no longer earning, please consider giving what you can.

Another, simple way to plan your gift is to take your normal Sunday offering – whether it be through the Sunday basket, electronically or in the mail – and multiply that by 51 weeks.  The total becomes your intended annual pledge for the calendar year. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Katie Loberg at 312.831.9354 or kloberg@oldstpats.org.

I give electronically each month, but I feel awkward not putting something in the basket when I attend Mass on Sundays. What should I do?

If you have chosen an electronic payment option and you would like something to place in the collection basket on Sundays, please let us know.  We can send you Sunday envelopes, with your name on them, and a check box that says, “I give electronically.” To arrange this, please contact Katie Loberg at 312.831.9354 or kloberg@oldstpats.org.

Are gifts tax deductible, and how do I get a receipt for tax purposes?

Yes, the entire amount of your contribution is tax deductible to the full extent otherwise allowed by law.  Tax receipts are mailed by January 31st each year acknowledging all gifts made to Old St. Patrick’s Church.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Katie Loberg at 312.831.9354 or kloberg@oldstpats.org.

What is the SGC Member Planning Card?

The Sunday Giving Commitment Member Planning Card acknowledges the intended Sunday offertory gifts from members, throughout the upcoming year. The card is a planning tool for you and Old St. Pat’s. By knowing ahead of time the intended gifts from members and friends, Old St. Pat’s can plan wisely the programs, ministries, and Liturgies for the year ahead. Also, the card identifies the payment type and frequency of the gifts.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Katie Loberg at 312.831.9354 or kloberg@oldstpats.org.
